PBL: Project Based Learning
This year the Honors Geometry course will be taught through PBL. This is a fancy acronym that simply means the content will be taught in correlation with real-world application. The students will be completing numerous projects throughout the year, allowing them an opportunity to apply their Geometry skills.
Project #1: On your mark, get set, Van Gogh!
In this project you will be discovering how Geometry is used in architecture and art. You will present what you have discovered, and how you plan on creating your own architecture or artwork using Geometry. After you create your model, it will be displayed for Professionals to judge. Project #2: Field Trip to Indianapolis Museum of Art
Students will be taking a trip to the Indianapolis Museum of Art on November 17th. This field trip will have the students out of class from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. We plan to stop for a quick lunch at Subway before we arrive at the Museum.
We will have 5 chaperones total. However, we need 3 more chaperones. So if you are a parent of one of the students and you're interested in chaperoning, please contact me.
The students will be in groups of 4 and will be studying the change in Geometry application from Historic art to Modern art. After we complete the trip to the museum, the students will present (as a group) their findings to the rest of the class.
